The public is invited to an artists’ reception at the Off Track Gallery featuring the paintings of Connie Michalski Gibboney and Charlene Meeker.
Gibboney says, “I was always interested in drawing people. As a young mother I used to draw my children, but In my youthful ignorance, I thought art was foolish and that it didn’t do anything for mankind. But a longtime girlfriend said that if God had given her a gift and she didn’t use it she would feel as if she missed out on something special so I started taking art classes at a nearby community college and attended the Art Students League in New York. Since then, I have shown and sold art work at the Festival of the Arts, Laguna Beach; San Anselmo, Marin; Fine Art, Santa Barbara; and Tubac, Arizona. One of my paintings, ‘The Black Glove’, was purchased by Robert Gumbiner, the former owner of the Latin American Museum in Long Beach, for his personal collection.“
Meeker is an award-winning artist, illustrator and author. One of her favorite mediums is pen ‘n ink with which she renders in detail Victorian homes and other well known San Diego establishments. Another love is colored pencil which she uses for intricate landscapes and portraits. San Diego’s coastline and amazing variety of trees and flowers provide inspiration as evident in her plein air works of acrylic, watercolor and pastel scenes.
Refreshments will be served at the reception. All artwork in the Gallery will be 10% OFF the entire day from 10am to closing. This event is free and open to the public.
The Off Track Gallery is owned and operated by the San Dieguito Art Guild, a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization made up of over 200 talented local artists. 760-942-3636
