A woman can become a flowering tree. When a tree is nourished and provided with a strong foundation, it thrives. When a tree is abused, it deteriorates. This moving production is inspired by folk tales of women, environment, love stories from India, and Native American traditions. A Story and A Song is performed with wit and a dynamic interplay of Indian classical dance (Bharatanatyam), martial arts (Kalari ppyattu), yoga, aerial, theater, and music.
Critics have called Sindhoor and Natyaveda’s choreography “breath taking” and “tantalizing.”
