Purpose: To foster neighborly connection and showcase local artists via the arts.
At a time when neighborhoods are being divided or choked off because of big money, zoning laws, fear of the other, technologies that keep us together alone, gated communities, loss, we decided to celebrate the neighborhood. So with two local artists, we will host the first annual Big Happy this October. The event will bring our suburban neighborhood together and celebrate local artistic talent at the same time. The Big Idea? One shouldn’t have to go “downtown” to experience art, it is right here, in your neighborhood.
Free. All ages. All are welcome.
We will have:
Art for Sale: Photography, jewelry, OOAK (one of a kind) paintings and illustrations, poetry from Poway artists
Art to Hear: Special appearances by local musicians
Art to Make: Art projects for all ages
Art to Eat: Snacks from local bakers
Upcycled Art: A nod to the classic suburban garage sale, but with an artistic twist - items for sale include books, candles, art supplies, costumes.
What to bring: Bring your sense of play, and family and friends!
