Robert Pacilio, author of "Meet Me at Moonlight Beach" and "The Restoration", and the young adult novels: "Meetings at the Metaphor Café" and "Midnight Comes to the Metaphor Café. "

Robert Pacilio’s newest novel "Meet Me at Moonlight Beach" is set in his home town of Encinitas, California. The novel is a character study that shows the force of betrayal but the more powerful influence of hope and love. In this novel his female protagonist Noelani is a dancer/ yoga instructor and her love interest is Lewis, a journalism teacher with a rare disease. They gain strength with the help of their loyal psychiatrist. Robert Pacilio’s novel "The Restoration" is set in Coronado, California and regales its readers of the island’s only ‘movie house’- The Village Theater, along with the fictional characters who help rebuild the once dilapidated theater. In so doing, these lovers restore themselves, heart and soul. PBS producer BaBette Davidson proclaimed of the novel: “Just finished "The Restoration" and loved it! Happy to be part of your chorus of supporters!” Mr. Pacilio recently spoke about "The Restoration" to the Coronado Historical Society and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Mr. Pacilio’s debut YA novel "Meetings at the Metaphor Café" (2009) was nominated for the California Young Reader Medal. His second novel, "Midnight Comes to the Metaphor Café" (2012) was a sequel that follows the same four teenage protagonists, who now are seniors in high school, dealing with the drama of the transition to life after high school. Both novels have been adopted in various school districts as part of their literary curriculum.
Mr. Pacilio was San Diego County’s Teacher of the Year in 1998 and has presented at California’s Association of Teachers of English, and the California Teachers Association (CTA). He has been recognized as San Diego Magazine's "Top Ten Teachers to Watch," and Disney's “Top 100 Teachers in America.” During his 32 year teaching career, he has traveled the West Coast to speak to about his novels. Now semi-retired, Mr. Pacilio’s work has won numerous awards and been published in Listen magazine and honored by Creative Communication’s as one of the ‘Top Ten Teacher Poets.’
