NCAN uses a platform for Organizations called Smorgborg. It allows Organizations to form communities. Once a community of Organizations is formed, they can automatically:

  • create Community Calendars
  • create Community Directories
  • create Community Opportunity listings
  • create Community Articles listings

To join the NCAN community on Smorgborg you need to click here to:

  1. Create a personal login
  2. Create an Organization (or Artist) account
  3. Request to join the NCAN community

Once you have done that and been approved, most things will happen automatically, such as your Organization profile appearing in the directory and your events appearing on the community calendar.

How do I log in to my NCAN account?

The User can login from top menu bar in the MORE section. Click on Login, link to Smorgborg and enter your user name and password. When you first log in you see a menu to edit your listing and add events.

How to I change my Organization profile?

Log into your Smorgborg dashboard and go to Settings on the menu on the left.

Choose “Edit Organization Profile”.

You will be able to update things like

  • Organization name
  • Organization URL
  • Organization Description
  • Social links
  • Logo and primary color
  • Event integrations
  • Address (if you want to send emails)

Keep in mind these will show up in multiple areas (such as the NCAN directory and Smorgborg landing pages) so be sure to fill them out completely.

How do I add an Event on Smorgborg?

There are 2 main ways.

A) If you are already using an Events platform like Eventbrite, Meetup, Events Calendar or others, you can just integrate your events into your Smorgborg profile:

  1. Go to the Events tab on the left of your Organization dashboard in Smorgborg
  2. Click on “External Events Manager”
  3. Enter your Event platform URL into the appropriate field and click submit

Your events will automatically be pulled from that platform. You are done.

B) You can also create events from scratch in Smobrgorg

  1. Go to the Events tab on the left of your Organization dashboard in Smorgborg
  2. Click on Create an Event
  3. Enter in the information and Publish when ready

If you have a series of events, you can repeat an event by clicking “Repeat this Event” right under the calendar and time entry. You will be able to repeat in patterns of daily, weekly and monthly.

If you have shows at different times of the day, you will need to create an Event for each pattern to repeat.

How do I list a series of events?

If you have a series of events, you can repeat an event by clicking “Repeat this Event” right under the calendar and time entry. You will be able to repeat in patterns of daily, weekly and monthly.

  • Each series is bases on the time of the day. So for example if you have a performance at 8 pm on three days a week, that is one series. A second series might be for matinees at 2 pm. A third series could be at 7 pm. Each series has to be listed separately.
  • Enter the start date and end date of a series as the same date. Add the start time and end time.
  • Go to the drop down to create a series. It is there that you add the days of the week and enter the end date of the entire series. For example: a performance could occur starting on July 11 at 8 pm and run until 11 pm. Then you might add, performance every Thurs. Fri and Sat until Aug 12. This is one series.
  • If there are exclusion when the performance is not happening on those days at that time, you can note this in the exclusion section.
  • The next series might also start on the same day, but be a different time, let’s say the matinee at 2 pm. Make sure and first enter it starting and stopping on the same day. Then enter the days that there are matinees (maybe Sat and Sun) in the drop down for making this a series. and remember then to alter the stop date.
