Charissa Noble Music/Art Lectures at the Athenaeum

Charissa Noble has combined her background as an opera singer, composer, and music theorist, along with her extensive studies in 20th Century American Art, to create the basis for her studies of the intersections of music and art.

Her series of 3 lectures provide a direct, accessible look at controversial art and music in the 20th century by looking at the intersecting lives and artistic ideologies of artists and composers, posing the idea that the connections between modern art and music are, in fact, essential to understanding both.

November 16: Conceptualism, Minimalism & Simplicity, 1960-1980: Draw a straight line and follow it: Conceptualism, Minimalism, and the ethos of simplicity.
